The Business of Creating Institute is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded by writer/producer Jennifer Mangan and Entertainment executive Michael Fisk. We are committed to advancing the careers of Entertainment and Media professionals by producing ongoing, live, interactive panels, workshops, events, and Q&As with seasoned executives from across the industry.
Our mission is to educate and to empower professionals who already possess foundational knowledge by providing up-to-the-minute useful information and practical action steps to help them create, finance, market, sell, distribute, and pitch top-quality projects. Unlike traditional programs, our events offer a practical, real-world focus—encouraging attendees to ask specific questions regarding their own projects during interactive Q & A sessions.
We also place a strong emphasis on fostering a spirit of camaraderie, where attendees and panelists are encouraged to network and build relationships that extend beyond the event itself. This collaborative environment has become one of our defining features and a vital resource for creators.
The Business of Creating Institute has already successfully produced over 40 panels and events, often partnering with such groups as the Writers Guild Foundation. We are a grass-roots organization with roughly 3,000 professionals in our database.
All of our events are offered free or at below-cost, ensuring equal access for anyone who seeks to grow and succeed in a rapidly changing industry. We rely on generous donations and strategic corporate partnerships to continue offering these impactful programs to the public.
